Job Description
Hatch is currently looking for an engineer to specialize in dynamic event simulation for its Mississauga (preferred) or Vancouver office. The role will be primarily office based, requiring occasional travel to client sites.
Job Description:
Analysis of complex industrial systems focused on capacity planning, debottlenecking, and optimization of production lines. Design, improvement, and implementation of integrated solutions related to material, human and financial aspects through the application of analytical, discrete event and other simulation, and process engineering skills.

Responsibilities
- Analyze data from a process
- Perform observations or surveys on industrial sites
- Define the appropriate methodology to achieve the client’s objectives, including static, semi-static or dynamic simulation modeling, value stream mapping, or else
- Perform calculations and develop simulation models
- Conduct studies and provide recommendations to clients and internal project teams to optimize capital efficiency under different configurations and operating strategies and to improve operations
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to business development as well as develop the practice of simulation and data analysis at Hatch by authoring papers, attending conferences, and connecting with clients and industry members

- Technical
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in (but not limited to) chemical, metallurgical, mining, or industrial engineering
- Working experience with discrete event simulation software, e.g., Arena, AnyLogic, Simio, or others is preferred but not mandatory
- Proven programming skills in at least one programming language (e.g., Python)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of probability and statistics applied to engineering
- 0-5 years working experience
- Interpersonal
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Team player
- Strong interest in modeling and simulation
- Self-starter
- Commitment to delivering high quality work

Although process modelling background is an asset, this position is not intended solely for that purpose.
