The House of Commons Parliamentary Precinct Operations (PPO) is currently looking to build a pool of potential candidates to staff various Food Services Attendant positions on an seasonal on-call basis.

The Organization:

PPO is responsible for providing efficient and modern operational services to Members of Parliament and the House Administration while ensuring a functional work environment. This includes but not limited to the provision of services such as food services.

Food services provide various hospitality services to Parliamentarians and their staff, House Administration employees and visitors to the Hill. These services are offered by the Parliamentary Dining Room and cafeterias located in different buildings on the Hill. Food services also provide a full catering service for a variety of functions ranging from a simple coffee service to the complexities of a banquet.

About the Role:

The Food Services Attendant is responsible for serving customers in cafeterias at various stations, and at the sales register. The incumbent participates in the setup of all equipment and food delivery for all catering events throughout the precinct, and supports the Servers in the Parliamentary Dining Room. The Food Services Attendant is responsible for serving food and beverages in the Parliamentary Dining Room and the banquet and reception rooms in the buildings on Parliament Hill, for setting up the rooms, and for ensuring prompt, polite and efficient service that maintains the professional image of the House of Commons for guests. The incumbent also assists with food preparation, production, and reheating when necessary for the cafeterias and catering services, and ensures prompt and efficient delivery of catering and cafeteria services in alignment with client service, food handling, production and quality standards. The incumbent also operates the parliamentary dining room or cafeteria sale registers.

Hourly Rate: $20.04 to $25.36

Prerequisites

Education

  • High school diploma OR acceptable combination of education, training and/or relevant experience;
  • Completion of a basic health and safety course and/or certification under the Food Safety Training or a Food Handler Certificate will be considered as an asset.

Experience

  • Experience in a similar position in a cafeteria or food service environment;
  • Experience with food preparation;
  • Experience in customer service delivery and problem solving in a high-profile environment.
