About the Role:

The Director, Members' HR and Business Partner Services is responsible for the vision and long-term planning of the service delivery framework along with providing leadership and direction to a consultancy team. You will deliver tailored HR services to meet the individual needs of Members, their offices and the House of Commons Administration. You will play a key role as a member of the HR Management team and provide strategic advice as it pertains to Members' services.

This is one of those unique occupations that are few and far between. This role has a direct impact on the services that we provide to Members of Parliament.

The ideal person:

You are an experienced HR professional with a diverse background in human resources. You aren't afraid of navigating internal politics or dealing with high-level stakeholders. When it comes to sensitive situations or delicate client service challenges you handle them with poise and diplomacy. You excel at adapting your communication style to your audience and the situation at hand.

Prerequisites

Education

  • A post-secondary school degree or diploma in administration, human resources or a related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Experience

  • Broad knowledge and experience across all areas of human resources;
  • Experience in the resolution of HR issues and complaints;
  • Experience consulting with clients and providing tailored recommendations that go above and beyond their initial needs;
  • Experience building relationships with various stakeholders and partners across an organization;
  • Experience in managing a team including mentoring leaders.

Asset

  • Experience working in an environment where an understanding of the responsibilities associated with Members and House officers as employers is necessary;
  • Experience navigating delicate political situations that may involve the public and/or media.

Competencies

Candidates will be evaluated against the House of Commons Administration Competency Framework – Strategy-Focused Leaders.

Outcome

  • Staff the position of Director, Members’ HR and Business Partner Services on an indeterminate (permanent) OR determinate basis (temporary). Create a pool of potential candidates that may be considered to staff future vacancies for this position or for other similar and/or related positions on an indeterminate and/or determinate basis.
