Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director, Structured Real Estate Investments, you will help execute various types of transactions (investments, dispositions and private/public deals) in an effort to achieve the multifaceted goals outlined in Ivanhoé Cambridge’s strategic plan. You will play an active role in analyzing, evaluating and presenting various business and strategic plans across the Ivanhoé Cambridge portfolio.
In addition, you will contribute to sourcing and analyzing structured real estate deals and supporting due diligence activities, working closely with internal and external stakeholders. You will also help evaluate Ivanhoé Cambridge’s partnerships. In so doing, you will be working alongside a dynamic, innovative team that actively supports the organization’s priorities, with the ultimate goal of creating and preserving value for Ivanhoé Cambridge’s portfolio of investments.
Your duties will include the following:
- Assist in analyzing investment transactions and opportunities, including those involving alternative and non-traditional sectors, public deals and structured transactions;
- Prepare preliminary reports for prospective transactions, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses;
- Contribute to the due diligence process by organizing and reviewing the corresponding documentation;
- Coordinate with external stakeholders (brokers, advisors, banks, etc.) and internal teams (legal affairs, portfolio construction, taxation, finance/accounting, valuation, asset management, risk management, leasing, development and others);
- Model complex transaction structures, taking into account deal parameters, partnership agreements and other financial structures, including those related to the Ivanhoé Cambridge portfolio and capital structure; recommend alternatives as appropriate with a view to optimizing the risk/return profile;
- Participate in the execution of financial analysis, and the preparation of documents containing a summary of the relevant information for investment proposals to be distributed to various stakeholders for decision-making purposes;
- Research and monitor target markets, making sure to access the latest information in order to accurately assess market conditions and opportunities;
- Contribute to market analyses and reviews that help shape the strategic plan for the Canada hub;
- Draft various ad hoc analyses requested by the Head of Canada.
The know-how of success!
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, finance or accounting (master’s degree, an asset);
- CPA, CFA or the equivalent, an asset;
- Three to five years of relevant experience; experience in investment transactions and/or working in a merchant bank (capital markets), an asset;
- Talent for financial analysis;
- Keen interest in the investment field;
- Ability to establish productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Proactive and results-oriented, with a strong sense of initiative;
- Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
- Ability to distill information effectively, with a disciplined approach to executing tasks;
- Good team player, able to work in a collaborative setting;
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word and Excel;
- Availability to travel within Canada;
- Available to work flexible hours;
- Excellent command of written and spoken French and English; strong business writing skills.
