Turnarounds are a critical part of our refinery operations and we are looking for a Planning Lead to join our team in Saint John, NB. In this position you will direct and supervise planning activities, work package and P6 step list development to support the execution of the overall Turnaround Planning effort. In this role, you will support a team of approximately 12 direct reports (Irving and Contract personnel).

Your roles and responsibilities:
Coach and mentor a team of multi disciplined planners by working closely with them to implement SMART goals in line with overall objectives and standards for the organization.

Work with individual team members on career development and training.
Develop training requirements and succession planning for the team
Work with individuals on performance management documents; creation, managing, and closing out various people processes throughout the year.
Develop and lead all planning activities through the planning and execution phase to ensure a high degree of Turnaround planning readiness.
Identify planning risks and communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders along with mitigation plans.
Own and manage KPIs that measure the progress of planning.
Communicate progress updates and coordinate plans with Block leads, management, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment to and achievement of milestones.
Develop and implement effective work practices and procedures that optimize resources and cost while meeting the requirements of the execution plan.
Maintain consistency and accuracy of planning tool (Primavera P6) inputs and quality of data in plans by performing audits to identify and correct plans based on findings.
Participate in continuous improvement activities and lessons learned to identify opportunities and implement changes to improve the planning and scheduling process.

Education and experience
Post-secondary education in trades, engineering, project management, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 10 years working on-site in a heavy, industrial environment; refining preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in a planning role.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a management position leading people.
