Ramp Up Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for general I&C engineering for the Bethune Ramp Up Project. The position supports the Maintenance Engineering and Capital Projects Team to align on design basis, specifications, design criteria etc for all ramp up projects. The Ramp Up I&C Engineer will take a leadership role for the discipline within the ramp up team.
The Ramp Up program will be a long term strategic suite of feasibility level engineering projects to suit the overall ramp up of the Bethune mine including logistics and port facility modifications. The I&C Engineer will create designs for early stages of project development and be technical oversight for all external 3rd party engineering as projects progress and develop through the KSPC stage gate process.
This position will support technical engineering team from the Projects and Technology department as workloads requires, this will provide experience and exposure to detailed engineering and construction projects both at Bethune and Port Moody facilities.
Review and/or develop instrumentation and controls engineering, drawings and documents in line with requirements relating to feasibility, standards, codes and K+S Potash Canada’s quality specifications.
Conduct instrumentation and controls/automation design and analysis for networks, instrumentation, control schemes, interlocks, communications, etc.
Cost and Budget Estimating of K+S Potash Canada’s projects in line with this position’s area of technical expertise and/or projects of a defined level of complexity or scope.
Ensure the proper deployment, standardization and use of software design and analysis tools.
In conjunction with peers, maintain, update, and define K+S Potash Canada’s design specifications and core documents for I&C scope.
Ensure quality of I&C engineering and design for internally and externally executed designs.
Coordinate with drafting supervision and technical engineers to maintain and modify installations in conjunction with KSPC’s management of change procedures.
Coordinate and maintain K+S Potash Canada’s technical data relating to the I&C discipline.
Provide technical support for K+S Potash Canada’s Plant Control System’s and all associated networks.
Provide technical support for K+S Potash Canada’s auxiliary systems including fire alarm system, access control, and CCTV.
Creation and review of Material Take Offs, Capital Cost Estimates, Constructability Plans, etc
Review and/or develop engineering, drawings and documents in terms of feasibility, standards, codes, and K+S quality specifications
Maintain, update, and define K+S Bethune site design specifications and core documents for Instrumentation & Controls within the Ramp Up project needs in coordination with Maintenance and Project Engineering departments
Evaluate new and existing technologies for their applicability to K+S Bethune’s Instrumentation & Controls infrastructure
Coordinate with maintenance engineering lifecycle planning efforts for consideration on future designs
Drive forward innovative and proven technologies for materials of construction and construction methodology including modularization
Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (B.Sc with ability to register as EIT or P.Eng with APEGS) with 2 – 8 years of experience
Experience with ABB 800xA is preferred
Self motivated with proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong written and verbal skills in English
Strong meeting facilitation skills
Potash experience is preferred
