Reporting to the Manager – STO West Operations, the Senior Advisor – STO Operational Technology is responsible for the safe and effective maintenance and troubleshooting of OT (operational technology) associated with STO Facilities and Compressor Unit assets.
The Senior Advisor is responsible for STO OT system integrity and cyber security hardening. This role will work directly with TIS to ensure STO follows OT guidelines as systems are evolved and new assets are added.
What You Will Do:
Provide technical support and advice to various STO Departments through effective communication of OT guidelines and Cyber Security measures.
Ensure preventative maintenance and priority obligations are met within the assigned area of Operational Technology responsibility, tracking firmware of all OT devices, PLC’s, RTU’s, HMI’s
Ensure OT devices have patches installed meeting the TIS guidelines
Documenting all updates, central document repository lead (SharePoint or similar) and monitoring suppliers Firmware revisions through bulletins and research ensuring upgrades are prepared for maintenance visits.
Communicating with key industry partners (Siemens/Rolls, Solar Turbines, Bristol RTUs, MES for RTU Loads/Measurement Canada, Schneider Electric (Foxboro), Lakeside Delta V
Work with SAP/Planner Schedulers to update SAP/Maximo ensuring all devices entered correctly in SAP/Maximo, including device related information, (IP’s, Firmware, revision history, etc.)
Participate in industry conferences and/or security symposium with similar industry members on security threats. (Sponsored by the National and Cyber Security Branch and Public Safety Canada)
Act as project manager for cyber activities and projects (Implementation of the TSA Guidelines)
Coordinate with DCS Vendor partners OT improvement activities working directly with onsite DCS technician and coordinate with SCADA advisors working directly with SCADA team as required.
Act as Technician Supervisor as required during Supervisor absence.
Ensure Operational Technology consistency is implemented at all major STO compressor stations to ensure a high level of cyber safety and reliability.
Decision making at Operational Technology level – settings/philosophies updated with consultation from TIS.
Minimum 8 or more years of directly related experience.
College graduate in the field of Instrumentation/Controls Technology or Information Technology
Diploma or Degree
Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
Experience with various computer communications networks and protocols
Working knowledge of PLC’s, RTU’s and general control systems
On call and standby rotation is required
Out of town travel may be required
