Job Description

HOOPP’s IT division pushes beyond corporate technological norms to bring our members, our Fund and our enterprise the most innovative, efficient, and secure solutions. We support one of the best pension funds in the world, and we need people who are passionate and up for a challenge.

Our IT Corporate Solutions Group (CSG) is looking for an experienced individual to fill a permanent, fulltime Senior Agile Coach role.  Candidates must have solid experience in multiple Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, XP etc) and Lean practices as well as exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills capable of facilitating continuous improvement in the application of Agile within IT’s Coaching Community of Practice.

Currently this department is undergoing the next evolution of Agile as part of its ongoing focus for continuous improvement and service excellence.  The Senor Agile Coach will be instrumental in facilitating this evolution both inside and outside of IT.  This group’s principles are focused on delivering consistent customer value in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.  They value challenging the status quo, innovative solutions, and cross-team collaboration.

What you will do:

  • Facilitate and support the capability of the IT department to meet customer and stakeholder objectives acting as a Coach to Agile leaders, Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Development teams
  • Facilitate and support the growth of an Agile mindset across leadership roles within the department
  • Explore and identify opportunities within the department to enhance Agile practices including a customized Scaled Agile approach and alternative Agile delivery frameworks (in addition to Scrum)
  • Facilitate and support the establishment and maintenance of measures and metrics to identify areas of improvement for software delivery, Customer satisfaction and team health across all teams within the IT department
  • Facilitate workshops and innovation sessions to drive the discovery of new approaches to Agile delivery within and outside of IT
  • Teach, mentor, and facilitate conversations related to continuous improvement at both the team and individual level
  • Build communication, relationships and understanding of Agile between other groups within IT&FS (ISG, PSG, SRG)
  • Establish and maintain the trust and respect of senior leaders within IT to break down silos and assist in the establishment of a collaborative team
  • Lead the establishment and continuous improvement of a department wide “Coaching Community of Practice” and establish a dynamic Agile Roadmap that will fit and shape HOOPP’s culture and objectives
  • Develop an educational curriculum to help identify and grow future Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and other Agile Leaders within IT
  • Contribute to the establishment of an Agile Maturity Roadmap for the Agile Coaching Community and IT

Who you are:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT product delivery –with project experience involving both internal solutions teams and external vendors
  • 7+ years prior people leadership/management experience
  • 5+ years of experience in an Agile delivery role where Agile coaching was consistently practiced and applied
  • 2+ years of experience in Finance/Trading/Pension industry
  • Previous experience as a contributing member of an Agile Coaching Community of Practice
  • Demonstrable host-leadership experience – measuring, diagnosing, and facilitating delivery improvement, customer satisfaction and value/objective driven achievements for multiple teams
  • Demonstrable experience as a Team/Agile Coach, including experience coaching Product Owners and Team Leadership roles
  • Solid understanding of one or more scaled Agile frameworks (ex: LeSS, SoS, Nexus etc)
  • Previous experience training, mentoring and evolving teams and individuals in Agile and Lean practices
  • Significant experience working with solutions delivery initiatives across a department involving both internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience facilitating movement from one Agile framework to another (ex: Scrum to Kanban)
  • Proven ability to gauge team health and prescribe ways to mitigate issues
  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field
  • Agile Certification (CSM, CSPO, TKP etc)
  • Personal attributes:
