Private Markets Rotational Analyst
Investment Management, Graduate Private Markets Rotational Program
The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is one of the top-performing and fastest-growing pension funds in the world, with over $100 billion in net assets under management globally. HOOPP invests in all major asset classes, including fixed income, public equity, credit, private equity, real estate, and infrastructure, and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
HOOPP’s Graduate Private Markets Rotational Program offers new graduates the opportunity to complete three (3) rotations over twenty-four (24) months with the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role after completion. Participants will develop a strong understanding of how each department contributes to the success of our fund and how we deliver on our pension promise.
Upon successfully completing the Graduate Private Markets Rotational Program, participants will have:
Developed knowledge of the private market asset class they will be supporting while working with a team of world-class investors;
Hands-on experience learning different investment strategies and investment processes needed for sourcing, evaluating and managing investments across the major private market asset classes;
Formal training on how to analyze and evaluate industries, and individual assets within Private Equity; Private Credit; Infrastructure and Real Estate; and
Collaborated with leaders that have diverse experiences in a professional environment.
The Opportunity
Over the duration of the program, you will be placed in three Private Market departments within our Investment Management Division for a duration of eight months each.
HOOPP has been increasing its allocation to Private Markets over the last number of years and expects to continue to do so through the 2025 strategic plan. Private Markets offer the opportunity to invest in markets and businesses that may not be available in the public markets and to manage the volatility associated with the public capital markets. Furthermore, although more illiquid in nature, the businesses and assets the Private Market Groups (HOOPP Capital Partners, Real estate and Infrastructure) invest in tend to have a longer time horizon and match well with the long-term liabilities of the pension plan.
The various Private Market teams manage a diverse set of strategies across many asset classes and provide beneficial input into our fund’s asset mix decisions, diversification and cross fund initiatives. The team is growing and constantly evolving to achieve our goals.
