The Public Works Division is seeking multiple casual labourers to perform manual work requiring considerable physical effort and agility in the performance of a variety of manual construction and maintenance tasks. If you have the relevant skills, knowledge, abilities, and/or experience, this role could provide you with opportunities to work as a Utility Operator in Water Works and Storm and Waste Water, Maintenance Worker in Street Operations, Equipment Operators, Truck Drivers, etc.

Requirements include:

• Grade 10 or equivalent; valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence; annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract; valid Traffic Control Certificate and one month of previous experience and on-the-job training.
  
• Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must possess sufficient physical strength, stamina, and coordination to permit the performance of heavy manual work in all types of weather.
  
• Preference will be given to those candidates with experience/skill/certification and ability in the following areas: pipefitting water work and/or wastewater; operating Public Works related tools and equipment; working in riparian areas including restoration and spills containment; water meter reading and/or Class 3 Driver’s Licence.

These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $28.60 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits. This posting will remain open until successful candidates are selected.
