Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Carpenter to cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to specifications. Your job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. Anyone who has a work permit and can legally work in Canada can apply for this job. If you do not have a work permit and is not currently authorized to work in Canada, the employer will not consider your job application.

A carpenter is an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.

A successful applicant should be hardworking, reliable, and have good communication and organizational skills. You must have completed an apprenticeship in carpentry or have equivalent experience in the field. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.

Specific Skills

  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments. 
  • Supervise other workers

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a carpenter
  • Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.)
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Good understanding of basic math
  • Good physical condition and endurance
  • High school diploma; Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is required
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, noisy or dusty environments.

  • Steel-toed safety boots and a hard hat
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Work conditions are physically demanding, a combination of sitting, standing, walking Bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Overtime required
