Tradesman Mechanic Job

Position

The Tradesman Mechanic is required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and is responsible for:

• Maintenance of all City vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Maintenance of small engines and assorted Parks equipment
  
• Ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems and adjust all necessary mechanical components
  
• Welding (as required)
  
• Other related duties as may be assigned
  

Required Qualifications
At a minimum, applicants must have the following qualifications, skills and abilities:

• BC Trades Qualification (Commercial Transport/Heavy Duty Mechanics/Red Seal Automotive)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience covering a wide variety of vehicles and equipment
• Commercial Transport Inspection Certificate with air endorsement
• Class 3 BC Driver's License with air endorsement
• Clean driver’s abstract is required
• Previous welding experience an asset
• Working knowledge of Computer programs (e.g. excel and outlook)
• Laptop ability on Cummins, Kenworth and Freightliner is an asset
• Have experience with diesel engine and electronic trouble shooting
• Must have own tools to perform the daily work
• Must maintain physical fitness level required to perform the duties required
• Must be in compliance with the City’s mandatory Vaccination Policy
