The Finance department is responsible for all corporate accounting tasks. Corporate accounting at Questrade consists of many functions: bookkeeping, financial reporting, management reporting, audits, financing, taxation, and regulatory reporting. Think they’re just a bunch of boring accountants and analysts? You didn’t hear that from us! Having fun and being appreciated for their work are daily occurrences for these Questraders.

And where does the Accountant fit into this?

The purpose of the Accountant is to provide support to the Finance department in managing Questrade’s financial and management accounting records.

What’s it like working as an Accountant at Questrade?

The Accountant will be supporting financial & management reporting, budgeting and forecasting function as well as assuming general bookkeeping, and accounting responsibilities at Questrade.

In this position, you will Manage monthly market data invoice reconciliations and bookings. You will prepare monthly expense forecast updates and actual vs. forecast reviews for multiple subsidiaries. You will prepare monthly reconciliation and booking of RSP & CDIC fees and interest. You prepare monthly RSP balance reporting to the trustee. You will range vendor contracts and agreements. Reconcile invoices against contacts. You will assist in month-end closing, and prepare month-end journal entries for interest accruals and fee rebates. You will prepare a daily bank reconciliation and working capital & market risk for review. You will coordinate with vendors regarding AP questions, and respond to payment inquiries. You will review the work of a team of Junior Financial Associates and provide guidance in resolving issues. You will assist in the annual audit and budgeting process. You will participate in various finance projects and other ad-hoc projects within the Finance team. You will perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • You have 2-5 years of related experience
  • You have a post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field
  • You are enrolled in the CPA program
  • You have excellent Excel skills
  • You have strong time management and organizational skills
  • You have excellent communication with multiple levels of management both verbal and written
  • You have demonstrated strong ownership and analytical skills
  • You have the ability to take initiative with a curious mind-set

Desired

  • You have knowledge of IFRS  
  • You have experience in the financial/investment industry.
