Reporting to the Senior Director, Plan Operations Organizational Development, the Business Planning & Reporting Lead provides dedicated support to the planning and reporting of strategic initiatives and business plans. The Lead works in conjunction with the Plan Operations leadership group to ensure that planning activities across the departments take place, that assessment and reporting on business plans occur, and that progress against performance measures and goals are being tracked to enable effective business decision-making and reporting of results for the Plan Operations team and other stakeholders.


What you will do:

Business Planning

  • Support the planning, development and coordination of annual goals and performance indicators across the division; ensure proper alignment and cascade of performance objectives across all departments and teams to achieve divisional strategy and member value

  • Support the development of a divisional scorecard to track performance and measure effectiveness in support of organizational and divisional strategies; identify and develop performance metrics and track ongoing divisional/team performance

  • Communicate progress in achieving organizational and divisional strategic goals through regular updates to the organization’s strategic plan and annual business plan for the Board, ExT and Plan Ops division

Communication & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation of accurate quarterly reporting for Board, ExT and Divisional milestones; oversee timelines and deliverables to ensure timely reporting of information.

  • Proactively provide new and innovative reporting to improve senior management decision-making, ensuring that reporting evolves with the needs of users.

  • Convey and explain findings to various audiences and draft clear and concise documentation, reports and miscellaneous products in a plain language format.

Client Satisfaction Research

  • Lead day-to-day administration of Client Satisfaction research (Member Experience, Member Interaction, Employer Executives, and Employer Administrator) including documentation of processes and controls, maintenance of schedules, implementation of quality controls, prompt resolution of issues as they arise etc.

  • Liaise with business partners in Client Services, Reporting, Product, and Research to support continuous evolution of the research tool to reflect business strategy / and needs, i.e. identify and implement changes to survey questions, data requirements and reporting, communicate results, support implementation of action plans

Research and analysis

  • Coordinate sourcing, analysis and reporting of reliable data and research to support: 

    • Plan Operations Strategic Plan Development

    • Plan Operations 3-Year Operating Plan and Annual Business Planning

    • Prioritization of Work

    • Development and monitoring of Divisional Scorecard, Strategic Initiatives and PO initiatives

    • Development of Business Cases, research documents or briefing materials within the Division to support organizational-wide initiatives

  • Ensuring quality, completeness, and integrity to enhance day-to-day operations and improved accuracy and efficiency to aid decision-making.

  • Assist with financial planning, analysis and reporting as needed to support the development of business cases, research documents or other relevant briefing materials to support Strategic, Corporate and PO initiatives.

  • Ability to present management reporting in creative ways, using graphs and other visual aids, dashboards, business intelligence software, etc., always keeping the audience and key messages in mind.

  • Continually review processes and recommend improvements. 

What you bring:

  • University degree in a discipline such as Business, Commerce or related discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years in a business planning, reporting, data management or similar role

  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint, to analyse and present complex data in easily understandable and actionable formats

  • Experience with business intelligence software (Microsoft Power BI) is considered a strong asset.

  • An analytical and methodical mindset with strong attention to detail is required.

  • Prior experience/understanding of asset management and/or pension industry preferred

  • Strong problem-solving ability & a high degree of comfort with navigating and resolving ambiguous issues

  • Hands-on experience in researching, compiling, and analysing complex materials

  • Strong, effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to a variety of internal and external audiences in order to explain, interpret, and report complex information. 

  • Ability to foster positive business relationships with both external/internal partners

  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to perform effectively in a team-oriented environment, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Ability (and desire) to work in a high-performance culture, with an openness to constantly evolving and changing priorities, and new challenges.
