The Job Opportunity:

We are currently looking for an IT Auditor to join our Audit Services team on a permanent basis, reporting to the Manager, Audit Services – IT.  The IT Auditor will be a key member of Emera’s Audit Services team, working closely with the Manager, Audit Services – IT, and other leaders and colleagues across the Emera group of companies.  The successful candidate will possess the ability to build solid business relationships and bring enthusiasm, initiative, and a strong commitment to professional development.  This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate to start a career in Information Technology auditing.

Accountabilities:

  • More specifically, in this role you will:
  • Execute various risk-based operational and regulatory Information Technology audits;
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate risks and/or assess compliance with corporate policies and procedures, laws and regulations;
  • Support the SOX program and provide advisory services related to risk, control and corporate governance;
  • Strive to continually improve the quality of our audit activities as well as enhance Emera’s overall control environment;
  • Be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations

What You Bring to The Role :

  • As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:
  • Undergraduate degree with a major in a technology or business discipline (e.g., MIS, Accounting);
  • 0 - 2 years of direct or related work experience in an Information Technology, internal audit, or public accounting environment. A minimum of 1 year of experience is preferred;
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks (COSO as an example) or IT operations control frameworks (COBIT as an example);
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and broad business acumen;
  • Solid critical and strategic thinking abilities;
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team;
  • knowledge of IT audit tools (ACL, Arbutus Analyzer or IDEA) considered an asset;
  • Local to Halifax or willing to relocate.
