Job Description

Established in 1987, Fidelity Investments Canada Inc. (FIC), provides Canadian investors with a full range of mutual funds, ETFs and alternative funds. Fidelity funds are available through a number of advice-based distribution channels, including financial planners, investment dealers, banks and insurance companies.

FIC manages over $184 billion (CAD) in mutual fund and institutional assets, as of June 14, 2022. This includes $45 billion in assets for institutional clients, including public and corporate-defined benefit pension plans, endowments, foundations and corporate assets on behalf of clients across Canada.

The Investment Management team focuses on research analysis and delivering strong returns, and is comprised of portfolio managers, research analysts, traders and more.

FIC has more than 1000 full time employees and is headquartered in Toronto, with regional offices in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

The Opportunity

The Investment Analyst will provide sales, marketing, portfolio managers and senior executives with product analysis, expertise, and content for marketing and regulatory communications.

What you will Do

  • Build, maintain and communicate a strong level of knowledge on assigned strategies (Funds/ETFs) and the capital markets in which they invest

  • Products are fully-supported with content, communications and messaging aligned with FICs overall business and sales objectives

  • Build and maintain strong working relations with assigned investment staff, retail sales team, marketing, and institutional teams.

  • Support sales team members on ad hoc queries for product information and training

  • Ensure that assigned Funds/ETFs are effectively positioned for success

  • Assist in the development and analysis of thought leadership pieces

  • From time to time, participate in client interactions on assigned strategies

  • Conduct competitor research and maintain strong understanding of competitor funds based on your Fund/ETF coverage

  • Ensure that assigned Funds/ETFs deliver on their stated investment objective and strategies

What We’re Looking For

  • Completion of a University degree in a business related subject

  • CFA designation or Master’s degree (or progressing towards either)

  • 3 - 5 years of investment market expertise

What you will Bring

  • Excellent analytical, writing, oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and handle multiple tasks

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines with commitment to excellence.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of VBA is an asset but is not required.
