Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in the fast-evolving field of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in the financial sector? Our ESG Strategy, Outreach & Reporting team is seeking to recruit a new Senior Advisor, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) to join our growing team. This individual will be a key player in leading EDC’s TCFD strategy and reporting.
Reporting to the Director, ESG Reporting & Measurement in the Corporate Sustainability Group, the Senior Advisor, TCFD will work with key internal and external stakeholders to lead EDC’s implementation of the TCFD recommendations and manage the annual climate/TCFD disclosure.
Discipline Summary
- In partnership with key internal stakeholders, leads the implementation of the TCFD recommendations across the organization and the annual TCFD disclosure process to support the publication of the TCFD Report
- Primary subject matter expert on TCFD and strong knowledge of climate risk and opportunities management, climate-related due diligence, scenario analysis, climate resilience and net-zero strategies
- Optimize TCFD strategy and disclosure process
- Provides analysis regarding emerging trends, best practice and peer benchmarking
- Provides training and share knowledge with internal resources
- Represents EDC in multilateral groups to share knowledge and influence change
- Supports corporate continuous-improvement initiatives through the use of problem-solving and other related techniques
- Leverages influence, negotiation and persuasion skills to engage in internal and external activities and deliver on the team’s and EDC’s objectives
- Utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills to build a network across the Corporation, as well as effective time management and organizational skills to respond to ad hoc ESG/climate related requests
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of EDC’s TCFD roadmap, including strategy and disclosures
- Lead the annual TCFD reporting and disclosure process, including coordination of internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts, management of content development and publication
- Establish and formalize a cross-functional TCFD working group with representation from risk management, ESRM and climate teams; and act as the chair of the working group
- Support risk management teams with key aspects of the TCFD strategy, including scenario analysis, heatmapping, integration of climate risk into credit risk, integration of climate risk into enterprise risk management framework and more
- Research, track and share key developments in TCFD guidance and publications
- Contribute to reporting and transparency efforts, including providing support and input on climate content for EDC’s Integrated Annual Report
- Act as the representative for any external TCFD working groups with peers and other organizations
- Monitor and manage external climate reporting trends and best practices, as well as developments in the international climate reporting standards and frameworks space (e.g., TCFD, SBTi, PCAF)
- Conduct regular benchmarking against peers and international standards
- Prepare briefs, presentations and summaries for executive audience
- Develop and manage strong working relationships and maintain open dialogue with key internal and external stakeholders
Screening Criteria
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience
- Undergraduate degree in related discipline (e.g., engineering, science, environmental studies, business) or equivalent work experience. Graduate degree preferred
- Climate subject matter expertise, including technical knowledge of GHG emissions, climate risk management and net-zero strategies
- Understanding, knowledge and experience of current and emerging ESG/environmental reporting standards and framework, including a strong understanding of the TCFD recommendations and familiarity with standards such as the GHG Protocol, PCAF and SBTi
- Knowledge of current and emerging environmental trends
- Experience with developing and managing a TCFD strategy and annual TCFD reporting
- Demonstrated expertise in climate change and the role of the financial sector in the transition to a low carbon economy
- Strong analytical and data management skills and experience
- Advanced excel and power-point/presentation skills and capability to synthesize key information for senior level consumption
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, think critically, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and ability to manage competing priorities and escalate issues effectively
Asset
- Master's degree in a Sustainability, Climate Change or Finance-related subject
- Experience in corporate sustainability and responsibility issues and their relevance to the financial services sector
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
Salary Range
- $89,000 - $133,600, plus performance-based incentive
