Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Business Solutions, this position is responsible for a broad range of activities affecting all groups within the  Investment Reporting, Data Governance & Valuations (incl. Compliance & Valuation, Stress Testing, Investment Management Reporting, and Investment Data Management and Governance).  This will require an understanding of HOOPP at a macro level as well as a detailed understanding of HOOPP’s Investment Products & Strategies, Investment Management Reporting, Valuation & Stress Testing Processes, as well as Data Structures & Business and IT Architecture.  The individual will have considerable interaction with various departments within HOOPP’s IT, Compliance, Legal, Front, Middle, and Back Offices and will be focused on cross-functional report building and systems configuration.

What you will do:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Portfolio and Deal Structures within HOOPP including all of the securities that make up those strategies

  • Involved in the configuration, maintenance, and upgrades for HOOPP’s P&L system – Ortec Pearl

  • Contributing to the decisions related to HOOPP’s Data Architecture (SAP Hana) as it relates to - Investment Reporting, Data Governance & Valuations

  • Building cross-functional reports using a range of reporting tools and technologies like Qlikview/QlikSense, Python, Snowflake, Excel, Power Query, SAP Hana. Act as a Qlikview/QlikSense SME resource to help Qlikview/QlikSense adoption and its effective use

  • Analyze and confirm the methodologies and the accuracy of the calculations impacting Front and Middle Office reports, as well as any compliance or regulatory reporting.

  • Manage the implementation of new, cross-functional checks across systems and reporting infrastructure maintained by the team 

  • Coordinate with other teams the completion of various projects, capture and document requirements, communicate them effectively and precisely to implementation teams (IT, IDM), advise on preferred solutions, and ultimately validate and accept related deliverables. Communicate effectively and work closely with internal clients (Legal, Compliance, Front Office, and Finance) to make sure their requirements are met, and delivered solutions validated and accepted  

  • As a self-starter, continuously looking for outside-of-the-box process improvements and new, value-add initiatives for the Business Solutions group

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in a technical field (i.e. Finance, IT, Mathematics)

  • Professional designations – CFA, FRM, PRM would be an asset

  • 5+ Years of Investment Operations experience, preferably with various Derivative Instruments

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in Financial Services, preferably Pension Funds

  • A commitment to demonstrating HOOPP values

  • BI Tool experience, preferably with Qlikview/QlikSense report design and data modelling

  • Experience in configuring systems (P&L systems preferred) and proficiency with SQL, spreadsheets, and database applications

  • Practical product knowledge, with solid understanding of theoretical fundamentals, especially those related to derivative valuations and structures

  • Diligent with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to think conceptually, creatively, always looking for new ways of doing work. Lead initiatives to develop and implement improvements.

  • Able to work independently with minimal direction as well as part of a team

  • Works well under pressure handles concurrent tasks, and meets prescribed deadlines

  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy
