Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Investment Management Reporting, the position will manage a team of Finance professionals responsible for Investment Management Reporting to support Investment Management and Senior Management decision making activities. This will be accomplished by applying a solid understanding of the investments and related strategies for the Fund, enabled by a strong understanding of reporting that is consistent with internal and external industry standards and principles. This will require managing a team of professionals, by setting individuals plans that are consistent with HOOPP’s objectives and providing the day-to-day guidance and support to the team. It is critical that the incumbent can understand and solve complex problems with many dimensions that have an impact across HOOPP.
The incumbent will support the Director, Investment Management Reporting for any ad-hoc reporting requests from senior management and the Board. Also, the individual will be a key contact for Internal Control over Financial Reporting, Operational Controls, Compensation, as well as, Internal/External Audit, external regulators and external vendors providing software as a service.
In support of these primary objectives, the role will lead and direct a growing team of 4 staff, which includes the structuring of the department, training plans, planning objectives along with continuous feedback.
What you will do:
Manage the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of investment performance, asset mix, stress teting, hedging activity, etc. to Investment Management, Senior Management and the Board.
Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to the team to ensure that all reporting is accurate, complete and timely.
Manage the production of the final audited monthly consolidated performance reporting package to the CIO.
Lead the evolution of reporting, workflow and automation to continuously improve quality and efficiency.
Work collaboratively with IT and the Business Solutions Group in the development of of solutions to meet reporting needs.
Review and evaluate risk adjusted returns methodologies on a total fund and individual asset class basis.
Ensure that benchmark returns used for the various investment categories are consistent with the Investment Policy and Guidelines; and manage any changes and enhancements to benchmarks to ensure that they are tested, approved, and documented prior to implementation in performance measurement database.
Identify and manage the implementation of performance measurement requirements in new and/or existing systems.
Support the Director, Investment Management Reporting in leading the implementation of Attribution methodologies to enhance performance reporting.
Identify and assess the impact of new investment strategies/products on investment management reporting, including developing and implementing any changes to process and workflow to report them.
Ensure that proper documentation of the various reporting workflow is maintained and that appropriate processes are in place to ensure integrity and to safeguard historical data against loss.
Work with the Director to implement a team structure that best supports Production and Project deliverables simultaneously.
Set priorities and allocate resources to ensure that deliverables are prepared accurately and within agreed upon timeframes.
As a member of Finance Management team, contribute to the division’s business planning process and formulate appropriate action plans to ensure the team delivers on its short-term and long-term objectives.

In partnership with other professionals in Investment Finance, evaluate existing operational processes against the changing organizational needs and best practices within the industry, in order to identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate the implementation of changes.
What you bring:
Minimum 10 years of relevant progressive experience in the investment/pension industry
Comprehensive understanding of front, middle and back office processes and technical applications.
Minimum 5 years of experience leading in a team-based organization or multi-functional team.
University or post-graduate degree in the following fields: finance, commerce, economics, business administration, mathematics.
A professional designation or working towards a professional designation (i.e., CPA, CFA, FRM) would be an asset.
Practical experience with portfolio structures and multi-asset portfolios and an in depth knowledge of the financial securities and derivatives traded.
Strong understanding and practical experience with compliance, performance measurement and performance attribution methodologies.
Ability to document and provide analysis of performance for Senior Executives.
Excellent research, technical, analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
