Job Description

As EDC aims to be the leader in helping all Canadian exporters go, grow, and succeed internationally, the Enterprise Digital Platform (EDP) group in EDC plays a critical role in enabling leaders to leverage technologies by providing an easy to use, secure and fit-for-purpose digital business platform. 

As EDP’s group continues to strengthen the organization’s core capabilities for automation, citizen development, low code/no code, API (Application Programming Interface), and systems integration within the enterprise technology platform, we have identified a need to undertake a digital transformation. This transformation effort will help us continue to elevate our core digital capabilities and transform how we design, develop, and leverage digital solutions efficiently, at scale.

To better position ourselves for success through the transformation, the Digital Business Platform group is seeking a Product Owner to execute on the strategic vision of the Business Solutions Integration Platform Strategy. This role is accountable for the enablement, governance and support of the business solution integration platform focusing on systems integration, API management, automation, low code/no code citizen development, and integration with the data platform.

The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge, solid understanding of learning curriculum/solution delivery, strong agile delivery and collaboration and influencing skills. Additionally, the individual will be results-oriented, with a keen focus on quality and delivering business value, while managing multiple priorities requiring strong attention to detail.

Additionally, this role will engage and collaborate with other EDP teams and represent clients’ interest via collaboration with Digital Strategy Delivery (DSD).

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Champion the Digital Business Technology platform by working at the intersection of business and technical teams to deliver business outcomes that enable digital transformation. 
  • Has a clear vision in providing trusted, discoverable, and accessible digital solutions.
  • Ability to work closely with other Product Owners across the Enterprise to enable comprehensive digital solutions.
  • Actively communicates with the stakeholder community to provide and receive regular feedback through ongoing status updates, demos, workshops, and other pertinent communication channels as agreed to by the stakeholder community.
  • Work closely with the Family Product Owner to create and maintain a product backlog that aligns to Corporate and EDP objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Family Product Owner and Platform Solution Architect to define the vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities for the Integration Platform. 
  • Clearly articulate, refine and prioritize backlog (user stories, features, etc.) to ensure alignment with development team, stakeholders, and leadership. 
  • Assess value, develop use cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy. 
  • Collaborate with Business Analyst(s) to generate well-defined user stories that capture business and non-functional requirements that are visible, transparent, and clear to the development squad.
  • Serve as the decision-maker in determining what to build and when.
  • In harmony with the scrum master, determine sequencing of user stories and ensure alignment between resource capacity and expected product outcomes per sprint.
  • Identify, articulate, and manage risks raised by the development squad.
  • Monitor analytics related to objectives and make recommendations for the best delivery approach to stakeholders.
  • Maintain trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Screening Criteria

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience including but not limited to Product Design, business analyst roles, product owner/product management/product development and/or solution delivery.
  • Proven product management experience in one or more of the following technology domains: cloud-based platform technology, API management, automation, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), low code/no code, and system of actions.
  • Experience deploying enterprise technology using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Experience working with technology vendors and systems integrators.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box and influence creative solutioning using design thinking principles and user-centered design.
  • Exemplary organizational skills with the ability to take big plans and break them down into achievable timelines and incremental deliverables.

Assets

  • Direct experience with Microsoft Azure and its relevant build, deployment, automation, integration, networking, and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft’s Power Platform.
  • Experience with ServiceNow App Engine and Ecosystem.
  • Experience developing and managing a low code/no code citizen development environment.
  • Experience integrating legacy systems in modern tech stack.
  • Fluency in the Microsoft stack (SharePoint, Teams)
  • Customer focused with particular emphasis on digital journey and experience (digital literacy).
  • Experience influencing business stakeholders.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English).
  • A positive energy, seeking open feedback and avid communicator to ensure alignment with internal stakeholders and vendors.

Salary Range

  • $89,000 - $133,600, plus performance-based incentive

Location

  • Please be advised that this position is based at our Head Office in Ottawa within a hybrid work environment or could be performed remotely at any city, with a regional EDC office, within Canada. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
