In 2020, senior management presented to the Board of Directors an integrated digital strategy and transformation roadmap to meet the long-term corporate aspirations of EDC. The strategy has been approved by the Board of Directors and is now in execution. Most recently, a centralized transformation office (TO) has been created which incorporates all orchestration, change, culture and technology teams. TO employees are empowered to deliver impactful solutions and sustainable change to our business and employee experience platforms. Everyone is tasked with evolving ways of working and bringing the exporter at the center of the design cycle. EDC is currently deploying agile ways of working at scale for all digital solution and value delivery. We are now seeking tenured leaders to establish a chapter lead practice for specific domains, build capabilities, empower employees, foster customer centricity and develop the future workforce.  Key elements of the digital transformation effort in partnership with the business are estimated at $390M+.

We are seeking a chapter lead to lead the domain of technical lead. EDC has an ambitious technology roadmap to deliver on the 2030 corporate aspirations. The roadmap includes work to transform, grow and run the business efficiently. The incumbent is recognized as a technical expert and leader with solid understanding of key business processes, in core architectural technical skills including systems design, caching and infrastructure. He/She is a sought-out as an expert in either technical architectural skills and/or EDC technical architecture. As EDC takes an employee first approach to deliver its 2030 strategy, attracting, developing, and growing the technical bench strength is essential. Close collaboration with family and squad product owners will be essential to ensure technical leads assignment is optimal. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop and manage organizational expertise in the technology lead area of knowledge.
  • Define professional standards/ work methodology within the Chapter competence and serve as a guide for others in their area of knowledge.
  • Develop Chapter members over time to create "T-shaped" profiles while steering development to match organizational demand of capability and skill.
  • Drive consistency of the knowledge and skills of the Chapter, sharing best practices and common challenges in their/her cell and others.
  • Actively manage workforce; promote EDC, seek new talent, hire, onboard, develop and empower your talent to have impact in process and product teams. 
  • Define and evolve capability building roadmap for Chapter members at both the individual and aggregate levels.
  • Manage quarterly planning for Chapter members (including external consultants) and coordinate with them on their long-term professional development. Hold 1-on-1s as needed.
  • Partner with family and squad key stakeholders (PO, scrum, architecture) to assess and manage performance and evaluate Chapter members; 360, etc. 
  • Lead technical design and infrastructure / environments strategy while ensuring an MVP mindset of ‘emergent architecture’ is kept. 
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Architecture Owners (across infrastructure and data domains) to align the roadmap to make choices within the technical stack, align on story creation and acceptance criteria.
  • Guide engineering practices in test-driven development with continuous integration and automated deployment while promoting scalable components to engineering teams.
  • Be hands-on and executing code to solve surfacing problems while identifying and removing technical impediments.
  • Promote culture of inclusion and diversity and be an active supporter of EDC’s cultural change.
  • Communicate effectively to multiple audiences and can bring in additional view in building recommendation.

Screening Criteria  

  • Minimum 10 years of experience and expertise as a tech/digital lead with proven track record of delivering impact to technology and business teams
  • Significant experience in deploying Agile infrastructure, environments, and strategies / technologies 
  • Undergraduate Degree with a specialization in design, technology, data, or relevant field 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in establishing, and scaling a technical domain in a Chapter structure or large-scale center of excellence (CoE)
  • Bilingualism in both official languages (French and English)*

Assets

  • Architecture certification (e.g., Oracle: Java EE Enterprise Architect)
  • Advanced Software Engineering certification (e.g., Edureka React with Redux for Web)
  • Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solution Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect) 
  • Significant experience of Agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies / technologies to drive efficient working practices and DevOps
  • Experience in Agile Development relationship with Product Owner, Scrum Master, and rest of technical team, with a strong sense of design thinking preferred

Salary Range

  • $124,800 - $187,300, plus performance-based incentive
